Parents' Room
Beyond the living room to the right is the bedroom of the Cather parents. Here the three younger Cather children were born. One of these births is described in The Song of the Lark. Everything in this room is original to the Cather family except for the rug beneath the bassinet. One can see that the parents' bedroom bookends the children's room, with Grandmother Boak's room on the other side. This tells us the history of an extended family living environment, where the parents and the grandmother worked together to care for the children.
