The Regional Education Corps (REC) formally incorporates several Museum Teacher Fellows into the structured national outreach plan of the Education Division within the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The REC is a trained, flexible, and responsive corps of master teachers drawn from the members of the Museum Teacher Fellowship Program. They assist the Museum in implementing educational programming on a national level. This includes the creation of and participation in workshops, conferences, forums, and traveling exhibitions, as well as coordination of Museum outreach at professional conferences such as the National Council for Social Studies and the National Council of Teachers of English.
REC programming targets audiences that play an important role in teaching, leading, and defending our society, and it is tailored to the unique needs of each audience and venue.
David Nienkamp was an educator at Sandy Creek Public Schools near Fairfield, NE, from 1969 to 2002. He taught mostly history classes and some literature classes in the secondary, and he was a cross-country and track coach. In 1999 David was awarded a Museum Teacher Fellowship with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) in Washington, DC. This experience led to his becoming a Regional Educational Representative with the USHMM. David helps organize teacher workshops on the topic of the Holocaust across the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states.

Brian Dowd has spent the last 10 years of his life wrestling with an unrequited "something" for his best friend's sister, who happens to live next door. But each and every time he's spoken with Beth Finnegan for more than 30 seconds, he's ended up with his foot planted firmly in his mouth. Now, Brian's time is about to run out. With recent news that Jerry Finnegan's sister is getting married, the time has come for him to put up or shut up. Like John Wayne in The High and the Mighty, Brian has reached the point of no return. What's he got to lose--except the love of his life! In a series of fast-moving, hysterically funny scenes, two actors play Brian and Beth from ages seven and six, through their adolescent and teen years, right up to the moment the play is happening, when they're both in their early 20s. This highly acclaimed comedy has charmed audiences of all ages, and has been produced with great success in a number of theatres nationwide. It has been hailed by critics as "A delight...a gem! Has enough chuckles, guffaws and belly laughs to please any patron."

Ezinma Piano Trio (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM)
Ezinma Piano Trio Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Sponsored by Peoples Webster County Bank. Free
The Ezinma Piano Trio was formed in the spring of 2009 and consists of Meredith Ramsay, Timothy Paek, and Michael Glur-Zoucha. All are currently seniors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Despite hailing from three very different backgrounds, they still manage to communicate through music the many emotions this art form presents. Throughout the past three years, the trio has performed for Chancellor Harvey Perlman's State of the University Address, twice in the UNL Honors ChamberFest, as a promoter of the Meadowlark Music Festival, and for various other events around the Lincoln area. They were also finalists in the 2011 J.C. Arriaga Chamber Music Competition held in Stamford, Connecticut. In the spring of 2010, the trio was especially fortunate to have the opportunity of performing in front of 500 people for world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma in a masterclass presented by Lincoln's Lied Center. In addition, the 2010-2011 season highlighted a tour of rural communities sponsored by the Hixson-Lied Endowment, in which the trio performed in 14 locations to help promote classical music. This was achieved through community performances and school outreaches, which accounted for the entire state with stops in Scottsbluff, Wayne, and Red Cloud. The 2011-2012 season will venture into new territory as the group embarks on a four state tour of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. The trio is coached by the Chiara String Quartet.
