Prairie Song Print

Price:
$15.00

Prairie Song, an acrylic painting by Mary Linnea Vaughan, was inspired by the countryside around Red Cloud, Nebraska, and painted in the summer of 2004. This is the same countryside that inspired Willa Cather to write My Antonia. The painting was chosen as the central image for the One Book One State Nebraska Reads My Antonia project for 2005. Mary Linnea Vaughan, a native Nebraskan, now lives in Santa Rosa, California. Prairie Song was one of the several paintings completed in a project sponsored by the Willa Cather Foundation and the Nebraska Arts Council.

Vaughan earned an MFA from the Maine College of Art in Portland in 2000, and an MA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence in 1995. She taught in Princeton, NJ for 13 years before moving to Sonoma County. Her work can be seen in Plaza Arts Gallery in Healdsburg, her South A Street studio in Santa Rosa, or through a number of juried exhibitions each year.
