Usher in the 2026 season with indie folk and pop musician Cornelia Murr! Written in 2023 while she renovated her cozy Red Cloud home, Murr’s latest album, Run to the Center, grapples with big questions while resisting the urge to offer simple answers. Of her 2025 LP, the Boston Globe writes, "Cornelia Murr’s Run to the Center is less of a sprint and more of a dreamlike saunter. The London-born artist’s lithe pop and balletic synths lounge across her 10 new tracks, reflecting the relaxed pace of the small Nebraska town where Murr crafted the LP."
Murr’s musical style evokes the sounds of beloved singers like Joni Mitchell and contemporary artists like Adrienne Lenker. The second stop on her "Last Run to the Center" tour, you won’t want to miss this distinct and special performance by Murr and her band as we kick off a year-long celebration of American music.
Programming at the National Willa Cather Center's Red Cloud Opera House is made possible with the support of the Baldwin Foundation, Nebraska Arts Council, and Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
The National Willa Cather Center is ADA accessible. We offer physical, visual, and audio accommodations for all attendees. If you require handicapped accessible seating, an ASL interpreter, or any other accommodations, please contact our Visitor Services Coordinator, Nick Powers, at npowers@willacather.org. Advance notice is necessary to arrange for some accessibility needs.
About the Artist
Cornelia Murr was born in London and resides in New York as a dual citizen. Working with producer Jim James of My Morning Jacket on her 2018 debut album Lake Tear of the Clouds, Murr conjured a hazy blend of folk and cosmic soul music, bringing to mind the fantasias of Broadcast, Stereolab’s most pastoral moments, and the spooky romance of Beach House. She released the single “Hang Yr Hat” in 2021, inspired in part by the art of mime and the legendary Marcel Marceau, followed by the self-produced EP Corridor in November 2022, which No Depression describes as “is as much an exploration of sparkling pop as it is a deeply felt meditation on the ache of being alive.” She has toured and collaborated with contemporaries such as Rodrigo Amarante, Lucius, Michael Nau, and Alice Boman. Her second LP, Run to the Center, was released on February 28th, 2025.
