Exhibit Preview & Open House at the Burlington

The National Willa Cather Center invites you to get a sneak peek of our newest exhibition, All Aboard: West-Bound Trains in American Culture, at the historic Burlington Depot. Be among the first to experience this immersive reinterpretation of the railway that first opened in 1878.

This new permanent exhibit brings the rich legacy of the Burlington to life through a compelling collection of historical photographs, authentic railway artifacts, and engaging hands-on activities. Visitors will explore the profound impact of the railway on westward expansion, its enduring presence in American literature, and its role as a vital conduit for settlement and cultural exchange.

Please join us for at one of two scheduled open houses, and experience the sites and sounds of the railway as you explore a pivotal chapter of American history.

The exhibit officially opens with a celebratory reception on June 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
