Middletown is a deeply moving and humorous play that explores the universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect in strange and poignant ways in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between. Mark your calendars for July 7-9 at 7:00 p.m. and July 10 at 3:00 p.m., when the Red Cloud Opera House will host local talent, taking the stage as the Republican Valley Community Theatre. This performance is recommended for ages 13 and over.

Our Director

A.P. Andrews is a New York City based playwright who was born and raised in Superior, Nebraska. His Nebraska Cycle is a series of ten plays about life in the rural Midwest. Three of his plays- Matthew and Rachel, Burning Barn and LARK/SONG, received their premieres at the Red Cloud Opera House. His other plays have been performed and developed in Nebraska, New York, Idaho, Washington and London. He is the Literary Manager of the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, graduate of New York University, and an MFA Candidate at Hunter College.
