Conroe, TX

Born in Omaha and raised in Lincoln with family ties to Red Cloud, Bob earned a BA in American Studies and a JD from George Washington University. He practiced corporate law with international engineering and construction companies, ultimately serving as General Counsel of Chicago Bridge & Iron Company. Now retired, he resides near The Woodlands, Texas, with his wife, Melissa, and is a father to four. Introduced to Willa Cather’s work by his parents and paternal grandparents, his lifelong interest began at age twelve when his grandmother loaned him A Lost Lady. He has since read all of Cather’s novels and numerous works about her, but repeatedly returns to A Lost Lady for its exceptional style and language.

"I grew up in the midst of Catherland and, as a result, learned a lot about people, life, history, and the land from a remarkable teacher, Willa Cather.  I'd like to share my experience with others.  The Foundation has served many in that way in the past, and I'd like to help further its mission in the future."
