One Night Stay at the Cather Second Home
541 North Seward Street, Red Cloud, Nebraska

Willa Cather's parents purchased this home in 1903 and left their little rented home at Third and Cedar where Cather had spent her formative years. Cather described this house as the Ferguesson family home in one of her final short stories, "The Best Years," first published in The Old Beauty and Others. The Cather Second Home provided Cather with a nurturing, encouraging atmosphere in which to work. Today, the house is a retreat for guests as it was for Willa Cather. There are six cozy guest rooms and 2.5 baths.
