Catherine Pond

Marketing Coordinator

Catherine Pond joined the Willa Cather Foundation in 2018 as marketing coordinator. She has worked for numerous historic sites and related nonprofits in donor and public relations. As a freelance writer specializing in articles on home and place, Catherine has written for a variety of media outlets: most recently The New Territory and Literary Hub, and she is a regular contributor to a website on country living, Rethink:Rural. In 2007 she wrote The Pantry-Its History and Modern Uses, a cultural, design and architectural history of domestic spaces. She has her master's in historic preservation from Boston University and a bachelor's in art history from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. While growing up in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, Catherine developed a deep appreciation for Willa Cather's writing and is especially interested in the author's use of landscape, architecture, and domestic scenes in her fiction. She now lives on a cattle farm in Kentucky with her family and where she works remotely, with trips to Red Cloud throughout the year.
