Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of Jack and the Beanstalk will be held at the Red Cloud Opera House on Monday, July 31st, at 10:00 a.m. This is a group audition—no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time!

"Beyond Nebraska: Willa Cather's Pittsburgh"

On May 18 the Willa Cather Book Club will meet to discuss House Made of Dawn by N. Scott Momaday. 1969 Pulitzer Prize-winner for Fiction. Set at World War 2’s conclusion, this novel picks up the story of Native Americans in the Southwest that we began with Laughing Boy and established Native American fiction in mainstream literature. There are two meeting times available; 4:00 p.m. at Cherry Corner Estates and 6:30 at the Cather Second Home.

On April 20 the Willa Cather Book Club will meet to discuss The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. This novel won the 1953 Pulitzer for Fiction. Old Man is Hemingway’s only Pulitzer, although many considered this an inferior work. The story of Santiago, a poor fisherman, and his greatest catch, not only won the Pulitzer but helped Hemingway to receive the Nobel Prize for literature the following year. There are two meeting times available; 4:00 p.m. at Cherry Corner Estates and 6:30 at the On the Brix.
